Fashion Must Haves For Spring 2019

I love Spring fashion because it means new trends and bright colors and patterns. I always go through the clothes I had stored away during the winter and sell or donate what I don’t want anymore so I can make room for new styles. There are a lot of really fun trends I’ve been seeing this Spring as well as fresh twists on the classics. These are my top picks for Spring 2019:

Denim Jacket

Living in Scottsdale, it can get pretty hot during the day in springtime, but it can still be chilly at night. A denim jacket is perfect for Spring weather and it’s a classic that will never go out of style. A lighter wash is perfect for Spring and goes great with any kind of outfit. I got this Free People denim jacket at Macy’s last year at the end of the season when everything was on sale. That’s the best time to buy a piece that you know will still be on trend the following year!

Rattan Bag

These bags are everywhere this year! They are so cute and you can fit all of your everyday essentials in them. This is the Amerii Ata Bag and the quality is totally worth the price. I think rattan bags will be sticking around through summer and we will probably see similar styles next year as well. They match so well with boho-style clothing.

Clear Sunglasses

I love these Warby Parker sunglasses because the clear Rose Water frame matches so well with everything I wear. There are a lot of crazy shapes going on with sunglasses right now, but I like to stick to more traditional shapes because they’re more flattering on my face and are more practical. Sunglasses are another item where I would rather spend the money on something that will last me for years rather than a pair that won’t even last through summer.

Gemstone Jewelry

Moon Magic Rose Quartz Ring

I have always been very anti-diamond and prefer other, less traditional gemstones for my jewelry. Moonstone has been one of my favorites, but rose quartz is a close second. I absolutely adore this Moon Magic rose quartz ring. It is so feminine and beautiful and adds a touch of luxury to any outfit. I only wear high quality rings and this one is no exception (Who wants to be left with a green stain on their finger? Not me!)

Patterned Pants

I love that patterned pants have made a comeback because they are so comfortable and make you look super stylish without even trying. These pants are from Topshop and the quality is surprisingly great. The only problem is it’s hard to find a top that matches well with the pants, but this crochet top from Francesca’s seems to be a good match.

Things To Do In Malibu On A Budget

Have you ever wanted to live like the rich and famous for a weekend but just don’t have the budget for a lavish lifestyle? It is definitely possible to experience Malibu on a budget and take a peek into the lives of celebrities.

Accommodation

Airbnb – $190/night split between 2 people for 2 nights

We chose to stay at an Airbnb since the hotels in Malibu are all pretty expensive and we wanted a more unique experience. The place we chose was a pool house of a really fancy house that had a pool, hot tub, and even a tennis court and was in a great location very close to the beach. I felt like Ryan Atwood when he first arrives at the Cohen’s house. Truly a dream come true for me. It wasn’t exactly dirt cheap, but it was a great price for the luxury experience we were looking for.

Malibu Beaches

El Matador Beach – $3 for 1 hour of parking

The first beach we checked out was El Matador Beach. It has tons of cool rock formations and is the perfect place for a photoshoot! We even saw a music video being filmed when we were there. We kind of got bullied out of a popular photo spot by a photographer, so that was annoying, but I ended up getting better pictures in other locations, so she can go kick rocks (literally)! This beach is very windy and not really ideal for laying out and enjoying the ocean, so we moved on to the next spot.

Malibu Pier and Surfrider Beach – $10 for all day parking

Visiting the Pier and Surfrider Beach is a must when you’re in Malibu, so this was next on our list. There’s always people out surfing and it’s fun to watch them since I know it’s something I’m not capable of doing. You can easily spend most of the day here just walking around and chilling on the beach.

Scope Out Celebs at Nobu – Free

Nobu, a celebrity hotspot, is right next to the Pier, so you might as well walk over and see if you can spot anyone famous. If you’re a cheapskate like us, go to McDonald’s for lunch (which is conveniently across the street from Nobu), and walk alongside the parking lot. You can even see the back of the restaurant from the beach, so either method works. Unfortunately, we didn’t see anyone when we were there but maybe you’ll have better luck.

Hidden Gems

Point Dume – Free

Parking is sparse at the base of Point Dume, but you can park on the side of Grasswood Ave for free. Just make sure your car is completely within the white line because I’ve read they’re sticklers around there and will ticket you. Walk past the fancy houses and imagine what it’s like living there as you make your way to Point Dume. We went just before sunset, which is the perfect time for a beautiful view. We went a little late though and were unable to get to the top before the sun set, but we will had a great time there. I was wearing flip flops and there were some parts where I wished I had been wearing actual shoes, so keep that in mind.

Malibu Hindu Temple – Free

On our way home, we stopped at the Malibu Hindu Temple, which is about 15 minutes north of the beach. This is an actual temple, so be mindful of that and respectful of other visitors. You will have to remove your shoes to go in, so keep that in mind too. It’s a very beautiful place and something that you wouldn’t expect to see in Malibu, so it’s a cool place to stop if you’re driving that way.

Thyme Honey & Dijon Glazed Chicken with Ancient Foods Gourmet Ingredients

I’m no chef, but I do love to cook. I’m always looking for new recipes to try out (usually on Pinterest) that are quick and simple to make because I’m always in a rush. I figure if I combine a few good quality ingredients, I can whip up something that’s going to taste really good without having to do a ton of prep work.

I was really excited to work with Ancient Foods because I love mediterranean food, and put olive oil on pretty much everything. I also really like that they source their products directly from farmers in tiny Greek mountain villages. I have been to Greece and let me tell you the food is amazing! They sent me their Wild Forest and Thyme Honey and their Keros Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil to try. I immediately started searching for the perfect recipe to match these ingredients and found this thyme honey and dijon glazed chicken drumsticks recipe. The recipe is paleo if you’re into that sort of thing.

I tasted the honey on its own and it has a distinctive thyme flavor without being overpowering. The thyme flavor comes from the bees foraging the wild thyme that covers the mountainside where the honey is sourced. Isn’t that crazy??  I knew this honey would be perfect for a savory but sweet dish. The recipe calls for dried thyme, but I decided to leave it out and let the honey bring all the flavor. It took me less than 10 minutes to prep the chicken and then 45 to cook. Not bad at all!

While the chicken was in the oven, I made some green beans and tossed them in a bit of the olive oil. The food was absolutely delicious! Just as I suspected, the honey was a great match with the chicken. The olive oil was also amazing, both as part of the recipe and drizzled over the green beans. It is described as having hints of fresh herbs and a round, buttery, peppery finish. I’m by no means an expert on gourmet olive oils, but I can certainly taste the difference between these products and your standard grocery store fare.

Classically Glam Valentine’s Day Lingerie

You probably have some ideas in mind when you think of lingerie for Valentine’s Day – red, pink, satin, lace – but everyone has their own style. Yandy came up with 4 “V-Day Vixens” to help you find the best lingerie for your personal style. I chose the Classic Glam look because I tend to choose more classic silhouettes that I feel are more flattering for my curves. I also prefer lingerie that has a luxurious feel and rich colors. Valentine’s Day is about celebrating love, but also indulging a little and making the day special for the both of you.

For the Classic Glam style, of course I had to choose some classic staples for the holiday. Here are my top Valentine’s Day lingerie essentials:

Lace Robe

Yandy Pink Sheer Lace Robe

The Yandy Eyelash Lace Robe Set is a sheer mesh with lace trim and satin belt. The Amaranth color is very rich and the lace makes it look a lot more expensive than it is (only $24.95!). A nice robe always makes me feel super fancy and this color is great for Valentine’s Day. You can wear it when you’re getting ready and doing your makeup, and as a coverup over your lingerie.

Satin Romper

Yandy Green Satin and Lace Romper

I am loving jewel tones right now, and this Green Eyelash Lace and Satin Romper is the perfect shade of green. The satin buttons and lace details give it an elegant touch and the criss cross straps on the back make it really easy to adjust. As you can probably tell from my faux fur blanket, I am all about soft, luxurious items. I can’t resist anything that makes me feel like a princess! There’s something about the overall look of this romper that makes me feel like royalty in some fantasy world.

Satin Chemise

Yandy Red Satin Chemise

A Red Satin Chemise is a classic choice for Valentine’s Day. The strappy back on this one gives it an updated, modern look. You can’t go wrong with red on Valentine’s Day and this chemise is the perfect shade of red for the holiday. Lead the way with some rose petals on the floor for a quintessential February 14th.

Here are some of my other lingerie pieces from Yandy: Viviane Plunging Mesh and Lace Chemise Set, Enchanting Garnet Chemise Set, Long Satin and Chiffon Robe.

Don’t forget to use my code ‘thekellyroberts20’ for 20% off everything from Yandy!

Have you picked out your lingerie for V-Day yet? What are you planning on wearing?
